About the role
- Lead and execute on critical systems engineering activities for one or more SkyGrid systems through Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews.
- Support the development of the System/Subsystem Design Description documents and update System designs and architectures accordingly in support of Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews.
- Coordinate activities with other team members and support junior staff.
- Advance and support system development activities including planning, requirements, design, implementation, verification, and validation.
- Support compliance in accordance with ARP4754A development practices, including the creation of related artifacts.
- Guide and support system design compliance with certification, cyber security, quality, and safety standards.
- Assist the Systems Engineering Manager in the continuous improvement of system engineering processes and methodologies.
- Support all Systems Engineering aspects of project planning, scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Provide executive status reports to leadership as required during weekly status updates and monthly Program Management Reviews.
- Perform trade studies to evaluate different concepts and architectures.
- Develop use cases, behavioral diagrams, requirements, and validation methods.
- Implement behavior driven development principles within an agile development process.
- Ensure traceability, justification, and validation artifacts for requirements from CONOPS to proposed design requirements.
- Coordinate with the Systems Engineering Team.
- Provide ownership of all candidate requirements developed for prototypes up tot TRL 5 and model dependencies and assumptions between different prototype development.
- Support standards development, domestic and international research engagements and the development of white papers and CONOPS.
- Support technology roadmap and technology maturation processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited university or college.
- 7+ years of experience working in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry.
- 5+ years of experience working in a Systems Engineering position.
- Familiarity with all phases of the SE design process, including requirements development, system and software architecture definition, validation and verification, and system integration activities.
- Experience with ARP 4754A and ability to support System Safety reviews per ARP 4761.
