About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee professional development of staff attorneys, associates, and counsel in the Banking & Credit and Capital Markets practices
- Work within the Legal Talent Team and support Staffing Partners and Group Heads
- Maintain equitable utilization across departments and teams
- Make staffing recommendations and match staffing needs with appropriate resources
- Provide associates opportunities to work on varied matters while balancing growth opportunities with client needs
- Update staffing databases and charts
- Assist with onboarding, staffing meetings, welcome meetings, lunches, and group lists
- Track absence time, vacation calendars, vacation carryover, and matter team coverage
- Build professional relationships through regular check-ins and assess professional experiences, objectives, availability, and wellness
- Escalate issues to Legal Talent management
- Pair associates and counsel with mentors and partner advisors
- Monitor mentor and advisor engagement and professional development discussions
- Provide feedback between associates/counsel, Legal Talent, and practice-group partners
- Plan and facilitate team-building events
- Support performance reviews, evaluations, developmental objectives, partner feedback intake, and VI feedback tracking
- Coordinate with other professional services team members on practice-group initiatives
- Complete ad hoc projects as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- 3–4 years of comparable experience
- Prior law firm experience preferred
- Staffing experience preferred but not required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to build professional relationships while maintaining confidentiality
- Collaborative approach with people at all seniority levels
- Strong interest and experience in professional development
- Ability to self-direct, manage multiple priorities, analyze needs, and implement solutions
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented approach and willingness to support unexpected projects or requests
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Comfort working in web-based databases/software such as viDesktop
- Flexibility to adjust hours to meet departmental needs
