About the role

  • As a (Senior) Backend Developer (m/f/d), you take technical ownership in our SHC+Care business unit.
  • You design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable services.
  • You work on the core systems of our online portal.
  • Together with us you modernize our platform and services, bring new features live, and continuously evolve code, architecture, and processes.
  • You take responsibility for central backend systems of our products – from new features to performance tuning to scalable architectures.
  • You work in a cross-functional agile remote team.
  • You use CI/CD, automated tests, monitoring & observability, refactoring, and code reviews.
  • You make and are accountable for sustainable architectural decisions.
  • You monitor our production systems and resolve issues and bugs at their root.
  • You actively share your knowledge and experience within the team.

Requirements

  • JVM experience: You have several years of experience working with backend architectures in Kotlin or Java and are proficient in operating complex live systems across development and production environments.
  • Comfortable with our tech stack: You are confident with the key technologies in our stack, such as Ktor, GitLab, and Docker.
  • Regulated systems & quality: You understand the requirements of regulated environments and consistently implement security, compliance, and audit standards.
  • Agile mindset: You have experience in agile teams (e.g., Scrum) with two-week sprints and take ownership of your work items.
  • Coding practices: Your code is clean, maintainable, and follows clear principles.
  • Ownership & drive: You move topics forward independently, identify improvement opportunities, and drive change with persistence.
  • Language & willingness to travel: You speak fluent German and English and are willing to travel approximately once per quarter for team or project meetings.
