About the role
- Apply expert knowledge and experience as a Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer to support Legacy Systems and the Mainframe Transformation Team
- Perform highly advanced (senior-level) systems administration: mainframe configuration, break/fix system support, and base user account creation/support
- Provide security administration support, performance monitoring, security monitoring, and system maintenance
- Support data entry and Control work processes and oversee/coordinate mainframe operations in the State’s Consolidated Data Center Services (DCS)
- Collaborate with Network Administration, Customer Support, and Applications Development & Support teams to provide day-to-day mainframe operations support
- Provide primary administration and end user support for CICS and IMS and for assigned ISV products such as BlueZone
- Provide input and recommendations for hardware capacity planning, system-wide performance tuning, system parameters and system libraries management
- Diagnose platform, software and related product issues and perform root cause analysis
- Act as technical lead on internal team projects or participate on project teams impacting the z/OS platform
- Support integration-testing of new products with existing applications and user procedures
- Maintain and provide technical support for Mainframe Production Control, Support Jobs, and monthly Mainframe Job Scheduler
Requirements
- 5 Required Experience with z/OS Systems Programming
- 5 Required Experience with JES2, z/OS Unix System Services (OMVS), Storage Management Subsystem (SMS)
- 3 Required Experience with TSS (Top Secret Security)
- 3 Required Experience with performance monitoring to include initial analysis of performance issues
- 2 Required Experience with REXX
- 3 Preferred Experience with Informatica Power Exchange Administration
- 3 Preferred Working knowledge of z/OS Operation
- 3 Preferred Working knowledge of z/OS Networking – VTAM (Virtual Telecommunications Access Method), TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)
- 3 Preferred Working knowledge of z/OS-centric automated job scheduling and management software (JOBTRAC)
- 3 Preferred Working knowledge of Terminal Emulator Software (BLUEZONE)
- 3 Preferred Working knowledge of VTAM Session Manager Software (VTAM/SWITCH)
- 3 Preferred Working knowledge of SMP/E (System Modification Program/Extended), RMF (Resource Measurement Facility), SMF (System Management Facility), WLM (Workload Management), JCL (Job Control Language), GRS (Global Resource Serialization)
- 3 Preferred Working knowledge of VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method), TSO (Time Sharing Option)
- 3 Preferred Experience with TLS configuration (certificates, SSL – RSA Keys, SFTP, FTPS)
- 3 Preferred Experience with SCLM (or other similar configuration management tools), specifically configuration and administration of SCLM
- 3 Preferred Experience with CPM for JOBTRAC
