About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Overseeing all phases of a project from design, construction, and delivery under the support and guidance of a Project Principal.
  • Leading proposal development, including scope definition, fee estimation, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Conducting site investigations and evaluations.
  • Preparing detailed technical reports of findings, providing recommendations on project concept, and providing direction during construction phase.
  • Preparing detailed restoration design, including scopes of work, specifications, and drawings.
  • Chairing client meetings and communicating design updates, changes, and key project milestones to contractors and other engineering and architectural disciplines.
  • Managing the tendering process and overseeing contract administration, including bid preparation, contractor selection, and review of invoices and change orders.
  • Representing Sense at industry events and other networking functions.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Commitment to continuous learning by staying updated with industry trends, codes, and best practices.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum 5 years of Building Envelope and/or Structural Restoration experience.
  • Registered with or eligible for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Proven ability to apply project management principles, from strategic planning and budgeting to resource allocation and scope control.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and relationship building skills with a proven ability to build trust with clients and contractors.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail coupled with a client-centric mindset.
  • Commitment to creative thinking and approaching challenges from fresh perspectives, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
