About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage and defend asbestos and toxic tort litigation in jurisdictions throughout the country
Work as local counsel and national counsel on complex asbestos matters
Draft pleadings, discovery responses, dispositive motions, briefs, and other substantive legal filings
Take and defend fact and expert depositions
Develop case strategy and manage discovery
Communicate directly with clients, insurers, co-counsel, and opposing counsel
Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
Assist Segal McCambridge’s national trial team with trial strategy, preparation, and execution
Participate in trials and other significant litigation proceedings as appropriate
Collaborate with experienced attorneys across Segal McCambridge’s national practice

Requirements

What you’ll need

Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Asbestos defense experience required
4+ years of litigation experience preferred, although candidates with strong relevant experience will be considered
Experience with toxic tort, product liability, premises liability, or other complex litigation is highly desirable
Demonstrated experience with motion practice, discovery, depositions, and case management
Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a national team
Excellent organization, judgment, and communication skills
A proactive, client-focused approach and a genuine interest in complex litigation and trial work
Additional state bar admissions are a plus, particularly in jurisdictions where Segal McCambridge handles significant asbestos litigation
