About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Batch flow and SLA management: Monitor the batch workflow in Control‑M and track the volume/performance of Online transactions (CICS), ensuring strict compliance with the project SLAs.
  • Incident handling (Troubleshooting): Act quickly to analyze, fix, release and reprocess/restart abends in the batch flow and to resolve failures/timeouts of online transactions.
  • Root cause analysis: Perform rapid source‑code reviews to identify error causes, performance bottlenecks and incorrect execution parameters.
  • Corrective and evolutionary maintenance: Implement changes and parameterizations in JCLs and COBOL programs (Batch and Online) / DB2, adjusting steps, DD statements, conditionals, return codes (RCs), variables and business logic.
  • Parameterization: Adjust and validate SYSINs (batch execution cards/parameters) and tables/parameters for online transactions.
  • Change process: Apply changes following the client's deployment pipelines and configuration management tools (e.g., Changeman, Endevor).

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience in Batch environments: Control‑M on Mainframe (dependencies, rerun/restart, troubleshooting), strong knowledge of JCL, SYSIN and Return Code (RC) concepts.
  • Proven experience in Online environments: Development and support of COBOL CICS (or IMS) programs, understanding of transactions, BMS maps, CICS commands (LINK, XCTL, START, SEND/RECEIVE MAP) and pseudo‑conversation management.
  • Databases and files: Strong skills in DB2 manipulation and queries (for both batch and online programs) and experience handling VSAM and GDG files.
  • Diagnostic tools: Solid experience with TSO/ISPF, IBM utilities (IEBGENER, IDCAMS, IEFBR14) and debugging tools (e.g., Xpediter, Intertest or IBM Debugger).
