About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage payroll operations and related activities
- Manage the corporate payroll staff and assign workloads
- Develop and control functions needed to accomplish payroll processing objectives
- Coordinate payroll tax preparation, filing, and payments
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Train internal payroll staff
- Prepare tax gross-ups for relocations, special pays, and related documentation for the IRS
- Maintain payroll tax files and correspondence with state and local tax jurisdictions
- Coordinate tax research with ADP and tax agencies
- Audit state and local tax withholding requirements
- Ensure complex internal payroll actions are performed accurately
- Research and resolve report or data discrepancies identified by Colleague Resources and Finance
- Educate Colleague Resources staff on payroll-related issues
- Deliver and maintain high-quality customer service to internal clients
- Administer company personnel policies
- Interview, hire, establish performance development plans, and conduct performance discussions
- Provide support, guidance, leadership, and motivation to promote maximum performance
- Support the organization's quality programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university strongly preferred
- Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Five (5) years of payroll experience required
- One (1) year of multiple-state tax reporting required
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with ADP Enterprise payroll processing system, ADP WGPS service, and/or ADP eTime processing system preferred
- Thorough knowledge of payroll functions and multiple-state tax requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
- PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products
- Leadership, management, and motivational skills
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
