About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle large losses or claims regionally exceeding $10M
- Address complex adjustment issues pertaining to damages and coverage
- Assist on even larger losses and manage smaller and non-complex National Accounts
- Examine claim forms and records to determine insurance coverage
- Administer and reconcile complex catastrophic property claims
- Interview, telephone, or correspond with claimants and witnesses
- Consult police and hospital records
- Inspect property damage to determine the extent of company liability
- Estimate repair, replacement, or compensation costs
- Prepare findings reports and negotiate settlements with claimants
- Recommend litigation by the legal department when settlements cannot be negotiated
- Attend litigation hearings
- Revise case reserves to cover probable costs
- Prepare loss experience reports to help determine profitability and calculate adequate future rates
- Interact with excess carriers to determine coverages, excess insurance levels, and potential reimbursements
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Must have earned the IIA-AIC designation
- Appropriate state adjuster license is required
- Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Expertise in large-loss property claims
- Strong investigative and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multimillion-dollar exposures from initial investigation through final resolution
- Availability during Pacific Time Zone business hours
- Clear and conceptual thinking ability
- Excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion
- Ability to handle work-related stress and multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Computer keyboarding
- Travel as required
- Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a job-related motor vehicle record check
