About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide senior, VP-level leadership across the pharmacy program, shaping strategy, direction, quality and performance
  • Lead workers' compensation pharmacy program strategy, design, clinical decision-making and complex pharmacy management
  • Act as a client-facing leader and translate program capabilities into client value
  • Review, refine and continuously improve pharmacy programs
  • Analyze claims data and book-of-business metrics and translate trends into strategy
  • Represent the organization in industry forums and strengthen its market reputation
  • Partner with operational, clinical and business leaders to align pharmacy strategy with organizational objectives
  • Work with pharmacy benefit managers on pricing models, reporting, pharmacy benefit networks, formularies and custom triggers
  • Create custom reporting for large clients and explain program complexities and benefits
  • Support pharmacy benefit management vendor partnerships and operational teams
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for national conferences and client meetings
  • Monitor the marketplace and support client relationship management
  • Understand the workers compensation pharmacy industry landscape and its implications for Sedgwick and clients
  • Develop client solutions and discuss formularies, pharmacy issues and industry trends
  • Determine feasibility and business case for bringing pharmacy benefit services in-house as a Sedgwick offering
  • Analyze pharmacy networks and pursue transparent vendor cost models with potential rebate insight
  • Administer personnel policies, staffing standards and training recommendations
  • Interview, hire, establish performance development plans and conduct performance discussions
  • Provide support, guidance, leadership and motivation to maximize colleague performance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • PharmD degree from an accredited university or school of pharmacy preferred, or bachelor’s degree with commensurate PBM management and health care benefit experience
  • Active unrestricted license to practice pharmacy as a PharmD or clinical pharmacist in at least one U.S. state preferred
  • Ten years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Two years of recent clinical practice experience
  • Two years of management experience
  • Workers' compensation industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of current pharmacy trends, alternative resources and treatments in outpatient and alternative care settings
  • Substantial workers’ compensation pharmacy background and knowledge of the workers' compensation managed care landscape
  • Client-facing experience with senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret claims and book-of-business data
  • Track record of pharmacy program leadership, development, quality improvement and innovation
  • Recognized or emerging thought leadership and comfort representing an organization externally
  • Executive-level presence, communication and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Understanding of brand drug rebate processes and potential client rebate offerings
  • Knowledge of utilization management and workers' compensation
  • Proven management and leadership skills
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet or exceed performance competencies
  • Ability to travel as required
