About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct thorough forensic investigations to determine the cause of damage for insurance claims or asset/building owners and prepare detailed causation reports and Scopes of Works.
  • Inspect and assess the condition of existing buildings and structures to determine the cause of damage.
  • Identifying design and construction defects with reference to code and damage causation.
  • Collecting data using photographic equipment.
  • Accurate and detailed recording of data whilst on-site.
  • Preparation of detailed computations for the repair of small to medium structures.
  • Delivering design documentation including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Providing construction-phase support on a wide array of projects.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 5 years’ industry experience, with experience as a forensic engineer ideal.
  • Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Member of Engineers Australia (MIEAust)
  • Chartered Engineer and/or Registered on the National Engineers Register (NER).
  • Interstate accreditations will be considered including Registered Building Practitioner, Victoria (RPEV) and Registered Professional Engineer, Queensland (RPEQ)
  • Proven experience with structural design software such as Spacegass, Structural Toolkit, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of the insurance industry (claims lifecycle) including the legislative framework, applicable codes and products.
