About the role

  • Create and maintain internal libraries, components, and utilities used by Scribd engineers
  • Make improvements to our AWS infrastructure, including application networking and traffic routing, using Terraform
  • Build, maintain, and improve tools and frameworks that streamline development workflows, including modernizing tooling and optimizing build processes
  • Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that increase efficiency and productivity
  • Drive broad, meaningful impact by boosting productivity and elevating the developer experience company-wide
  • Participate in a flexible work program (Scribd Flex) with occasional in-person attendance required for collaboration and culture

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Curiosity-driven individual with a growth mindset
  • Comfortable navigating DevOps workflows and modern cloud infrastructure
  • Developer tooling CLIs
  • Infrastructure as code and cloud automation experience, including AWS and Terraform
  • Application networking, traffic routing, CDN configuration, and caching strategies
  • Observability, performance profiling, and optimization
  • A passion for improving developer experience and productivity
  • A thoughtful approach to platform engineering that balances stability, speed, and simplicity
  • Employees must have their primary residence in or near one of the listed cities (e.g., New York City) or be open to relocating
