About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and monitor comprehensive nutritional care plans and physician-ordered therapeutic diets.
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for acutely ill patients and monitor progress throughout their care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition therapy into each patient's treatment plan.
  • Document assessments, interventions and outcomes using the Nutrition Care Process and established clinical standards.
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy tailored to each patient's age, medical condition, learning needs, and individualized goals while educating patients with practical, evidence-based strategies that promote long-term success and healthy behavior change.
  • Assess patient understanding and cooperation to better integrate nutrition plans into their daily lifestyles.
  • Coordinate referrals to appropriate providers, programs and support services to address patient needs comprehensively.
  • Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care, operational efficiency and clinical outcomes.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required, or eligibility to obtain credentialing where applicable.
  • Two or more years of clinical dietitian experience is preferred; new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Experience performing nutrition assessments and providing medical nutrition therapy in an acute care hospital or facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of social, cultural, and economic factors that influence nutrition and the ability to develop realistic, patient-centered care plans.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
