About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide timely patching and remediation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities for Navy afloat network systems
- Provide break/fix IT support in shipboard environments and troubleshoot LAN issues
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend permanent configuration or system changes
- Deliver server and network break/fix support, including remote troubleshooting of servers, networks, desktops, and peripheral devices
- Participate in technical meetings, prepare progress updates, and deliver briefs and presentations
- Work directly with Active Duty personnel and government staff to deliver repair and technical support for Navy afloat networks
- Travel within the U.S. and internationally, approximately 25%, and provide occasional after-hours support
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years, or PhD and 0 years of related experience
- Years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 1+ years of experience supporting military network environments relevant to the responsibilities
- Administration experience with Cisco switches/routers, Windows Server, or Linux
- Working knowledge of core networking concepts and protocols
- Active Secret Clearance
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Current DoD IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+
- Ability to obtain an approved operating system certification within 6 months of hire, such as CCNA, Microsoft Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Linux+, VCP, or equivalent cloud certifications
- Knowledge of ADNS, ISNS, CANES, FSW, CENTRIXS, Legacy SCI, VIXS, and WRBS is a plus
- Experience administering enterprise-scale networks is desired
- Proficiency with enterprise wireless technologies, including 802.11 standards, controller-based systems, RF design, tuning, WPA3, and 802.1X, is desired
- Hands-on experience with next-generation firewalls, segmentation approaches, and zero-trust architectures is desired
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills are desired
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are desired
