About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams and projects related to the design, manufacture, and sustainment of US military equipment and related systems
- Work with teams developing, producing, and sustaining radar, RF, electronic warfare, communications, acoustic, electro-optic, weapon launch and control, test, and other military systems
- Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to design mechanical constructs
- Work independently and solve complex engineering problems across multiple simultaneous projects
- Assess the effects of static loads, stress loads, acoustic pressure, altitude, humidity, and other environmental exposures on systems and components
- Perform FEA structural and thermal analysis using common software packages
- Apply GD&T and ASME or other industry standards to drawings and models
- Standardize mechanical engineering processes and tools for the facility and guide team implementation
- Manage, mentor, guide, and review the work of Mechanical Engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years or more related experience, or Master's degree and seven (7) years related experience
- Experience generating mechanical requirements and translating them into design concepts
- Experience writing and interpreting technical reports, requirements, and interface documents
- Strong product design review experience, including preparing review documentation and presenting materials in a structured development environment
- Experience running small projects related to electronics system development and/or integration
- Experience leading teams of engineers or related project personnel
- Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or Creo
- Experience using FEA tools, preparing reports with findings, and applying results to improve mechanical or system designs
- Experience preparing presentation materials and presenting to peers, project team members, customers, and managers
- Experience with configuration management tools for hardware, software, and documentation version control
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
- Desired: experience in a small-team collaborative environment
- Desired: experience managing and mentoring Mechanical Engineers
