About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate as the pilot and other controllers in the air traffic controller training simulator
- Operate simulated radar display and voice communication systems during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises
- Receive voice commands from students
- Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions
- Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology
- Respond to students via the voice communication system using proper phraseology
- Complete classroom certification by passing tests on airspace and procedures
- Complete lab certification by performing as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions
- Support FAA air traffic controller training services
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to read and interpret diagrams, manuals, and similar materials
- Ability to speak clearly and be understood
- US citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team is desired
- ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation lab experience and certification is strongly desired but not required
- Effective oral and written communication skills are desired
- Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is strongly desired but not required
- MS Office Suite proficiency is desired
- Basic familiarity with current technology tools such as tablets, notebooks, and applications
- Basic familiarity with or experience in pilot/controller communications or phraseology
