About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide system life cycle software engineering support for NAVWAR and NIWC customers
- Sustain software components on fielded CANES tactical networks
- Analyze and modify systems and COTS components to address end-of-support issues, new interfaces, and customer requirements
- Provide Tier II and fleet troubleshooting remotely or onsite
- Analyze failure data, trouble reports, and U.S. Navy Fleet communications to identify system deficiencies
- Propose solutions, conduct peer reviews, and work with production engineers on implementation
- Create and update engineering documentation and manage solutions through configuration management
- Participate in technical meetings, IPTs, technical working groups, and engineering/design reviews
- Report technical progress, prepare briefs, and deliver presentations
- Support system installations, configuration management, sustainment, upgrades, distance support, and emergent onsite CASREP support
- Engineer solutions for Windows and Red Hat/Linux operating systems
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend permanent configuration changes
- Develop, integrate, test, debug, and tune software solutions
- Collaborate with external partners, consultants, agencies, and vendors on troubleshooting and system integration design
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years or more of experience; years of experience may be reviewed in lieu of degree
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start
- Experience supporting DoD C4ISR systems in an enterprise-level IT environment, including ISNS, CANES, ADNS, SCI Network, CENTRIX, or ORT
- 4 or more years of experience in a DevOps-based environment and familiarity with Agile practices
- 2 years of experience with scripting languages and automation using PowerShell and XML development
- 2 years of experience designing, analyzing, and supporting local area networks
- Experience with cloud computing environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Flankspeed Edge
- Experience with the Microsoft stack, including .NET 4.0, C#, and PowerShell
- Experience with Linux programming languages
- Current IAT Level II compliance (Security+) and OS certification; must obtain within 6 months if not currently held
