Manager, Chemical Operations
SABICManager, Chemical Operations at SABIC overseeing production, quality, compliance, and team management in Ottawa location. Driving continuous improvement initiatives while managing direct teams.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Facilitates all functional activities in the Ottawa Site Chem-Ops Production Area, which includes three ABS/ASA/TSAN Resin lines, LATEX synthetic rubber Polybutadiene Operation, Site Tank Farm operations and Utility/WWTP operations.
- Responsible for EHS&S compliance, manufacturing capabilities, quality and service performance, process improvement, cost optimization to meet financial budgets and team management.
- Interacts with the business and site in setting the direction for the operating unit including operating parameters and high-level production targets and Business Rules.
- Identifies and communicates operating unit goals and technology plans with respect to health, safety, and environmental concerns, unit operations, and technical opportunities.
- Owns the Unit Technology Plan.
- Demonstrates leadership by assigning people appropriate decision rights.
- Makes sound and timely business decisions based upon Business Technology and Unit Technology Plans.
- Develops and drives implementation of capital projects that support and advance Business and Unit improvement initiatives.
- Manages personal development and the development of direct reports.
- Sets expectations and coaches unit and site team members to ensure they are capable and accomplished.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 9-12 year's experience in a chemical manufacturing environment required.
- Engineering degree, chemical engineering degree preferred.
- 5-7 years management/leadership experience preferred.
- In depth understanding of unit operations, process equipment and technology.
- Ability to inspire and guide others toward identifying and achieving vision and goals; provides purpose and direction.
- Ability to give encouragement, guidance and direction to others to improve performance.
- Insistence on challenging the status quo and a drive for continuous improvement and improved Operating Discipline.
- Ability to modify interpersonal style, to use listening and feedback skills to build understanding, and effectively manage conflict.
- Ability to listen generously and practice open advocacy; ability to provide people the information to perform their assigned roles by spoken word.
- Ability to provide people the written information necessary to do their job correctly; ability to make relevant information known in a responsive and effective way.
