About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Technical procurement & engineering interface
- Analysis of requirement specifications (URS / SRM), technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Early involvement in product development projects (design-to-cost, make-or-buy) and standardization
- Evaluation of technical equivalences and alternative solutions
- Tendering & benchmarking
- Structured preparation of RFQ/RFP documentation for complex system deliveries
- Definition of evaluation criteria: technical performance, price, delivery time, quality, references
- Conducting market benchmarks and competitor comparisons (min. 3 offers)
- Preparation of decision papers for relevant stakeholders
- Independent negotiation and drafting of supply contracts
- Review of supplier contracts for legal and commercial risks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, automation or equivalent
- Further training in procurement/SCM and/or contract law is an advantage
- Additional business administration qualification (CAS, MBA, or similar) desirable
- 7–12 years' professional experience in mechanical engineering
- At least 5 years in strategic procurement of technical systems
- Experience in drafting and negotiating supply, framework and works contracts
- Experience in special-purpose machinery, automation technology, packaging technology or similar
- Hands-on experience conducting structured tenders and benchmarks for make-or-buy decisions and technical alternative assessments
