Senior Electrical Project Engineer – BESS
RWESenior Electrical Project Engineer responsible for electric designs and project compliance in the energy sector. Leading technical execution and ensuring quality standards through collaborative efforts.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Overall responsibility for the complete technical implementation of electrical designs, including concept development, design reviews, and integrating project requirements into specifications and architecture.
- Prepare technical status reports for the Execution Project Manager and manage design-freeze processes, change procedures, and documentation in line with stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks while ensuring HSE, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout all project phases.
- Independently lead technical interfaces and coordinate collaboration across disciplines, contractors, and experts to ensure high-quality engineering deliverables.
- Act as the primary technical authority during commissioning, oversee on-site activities, and support the smooth handover to operations in close coordination with the Site Construction Manager.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable engineering discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the renewable energy sector and/or in power generation or transmission.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar project execution role.
- Familiarity with leading battery system vendors, DC/AC and DC/DC power conversion systems, automation controls, communications equipment, transformers, protection devices, and/or medium-voltage switchgear.
- Business-fluent English skills.
- Experience in electrical and grid compliance is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology.
- Experience with business process mapping, task management, and collaboration/efficiency software tools.
- Solid knowledge of energy storage projects and industry trends, particularly batteries, storage solutions, and related technologies.
- Knowledge of EPLAN and PowerFactory.
- German language skills are an advantage.
