About the role
- Provide strategic leadership for the company’s engagement in U.S. wholesale electricity markets.
- Accountable for shaping market design, transmission planning, strengthening market policy awareness, cost allocation frameworks, and enhancing commercial outcomes.
- Lead and manage regional wholesale market teams across U.S. organized markets, setting strategic priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring alignment.
- Serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the Vice President of Policy and Regulatory Affairs.
- Proactively identify, monitor, and communicate federal and state regulatory initiatives.
- Analyze and synthesize complex market rulemakings and assess commercial risks and opportunities.
- Actively participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder processes and state regulatory proceedings.
- Lead engagement with regional and state regulatory agencies on wholesale market design, transmission planning, and cost allocation matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, regulators, peers, and grid operators.
- Manage external advisors and consultants to advance strategic priorities effectively.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Policy, or other relevant areas. Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of ten years of demonstrated experience within U.S. organized wholesale electric power markets, including experience managing and leading cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated leadership in ISO/RTO stakeholder processes and regulatory proceedings, with a proven ability to guide teams, influence outcomes, and drive strategic initiatives
- Experience operating in a fast-paced agile commercial environment
- Adaptable to working in a cross-functional matrixed environment interacting with internal resources, external consultants, and trade organizations
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage internal and external customer relationships in person and remotely
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership, written and verbal communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organization skills and detailed oriented ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWE office and field locations
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
