About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and evolve allocation/optimization algorithms for distributing products between distribution centers and stores
- Maintain and enhance inventory simulators to test scenarios and replenishment policies (backtesting and what‑if analysis)
- Take prototyped solutions in notebooks to production, building large‑scale data pipelines
- Analyze and communicate business KPIs (service level, stockouts, turnover, fill rate) to business stakeholders
- Collaborate with data engineering teams on operating pipelines in the AWS cloud
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or related fields
- Strong experience in Data Science with projects applied to business problems
- Advanced Python (NumPy, Pandas; plus: Polars) and SQL
- Knowledge of statistics/probability applied to forecasting and service level analysis
- Experience with PySpark and large‑scale data pipelines
- Experience with AWS (Glue, S3)
- Desired: experience optimizing Python performance (Numba JIT) and allocation/optimization algorithms
- Desired: experience with multi‑echelon inventory simulation
- Desired: familiarity with Streamlit/Plotly, Terraform, and CI/CD
- Desired: experience with AWS Step Functions
- Desired: experience leading projects technically or mentoring other data scientists
