About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide detailed review and analysis of complex tax returns, approximately up to 35% of time
  • Work on multiple complex issues and communicate in a non-technical manner between clients and service teams
  • Manage risk for clients and the firm
  • May have people leadership responsibilities
  • Train and develop staff members, approximately 10–20% of time
  • Serve as Tax client service coordinator for appropriate clients
  • Review research findings and ensure conclusions align with firm policies and professional standards
  • Assist with new business development, extended service, and tax issue recognition for existing clients
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
  • Collaborate with clients, industry experts, and RSM specialists to develop tailored solutions
  • Some travel may be required depending on location, line of business, and client need
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business-related field
  • Must be eligible to sit for the CPA exam, EA or a licensed JD
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in public accounting with an emphasis on taxation
  • Experience preparing and reviewing Partnership, S Corporation or C Corporation returns
  • Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Active CPA, JD/LLM, or EA preferred
  • Masters of Accounting, Masters of Taxation or MBA preferred
  • Experience with private client or business taxation preferred
  • Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation
  • Experience preparing or reviewing accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740’s
  • Experience dealing with international tax matters is a plus
  • RSM does not intend to hire entry level candidates who will require sponsorship now or in the future (i.e. F-1 visa holders)
