About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise business owner clients on business and tax opportunities, including succession planning, wealth transfer planning, and tax compliance
  • Manage and oversee engagement teams focused on Partnership, S Corporation, C Corporation, Individual, and Fiduciary taxation
  • Plan and execute client tax engagements
  • Collaborate with specialists on Estate and Gift planning, State and Local Taxation, and International Taxation
  • Handle complex issues and communicate them in a non-technical manner
  • Manage risk for clients and the firm
  • Potentially lead people
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on growth opportunities with existing clients and prospects
  • Develop and sustain relationships with clients and professional advisors
  • Review research findings for consistency with firm policies and professional standards
  • Remain current on tax practices and changes in tax law
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel may be required depending on location, line of business, and client need

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business-related field
  • CPA license in one’s principal place of business/home state, licensed J.D. or Enrolled Agent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in public accounting with an emphasis on taxation
  • Experience managing client engagements
  • Proficient in entity taxation, including Partnership, S Corporation, and C Corporation taxation
  • Proficient in Individual Taxation
  • Familiarity with Fiduciary, Gift, and Estate Taxation
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • LL.M. in taxation and/or Master’s in Taxation preferred
  • Experience with private client or business taxation preferred
  • Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance preferred
  • Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation preferred
  • Industry specialization a plus
  • Experience with international tax matters a plus
  • Must not require sponsorship now or in the future for entry-level hiring; F-1 visa holders are excluded from entry-level hiring consideration
