About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the development and review of deliverables including equipment layouts, grounding systems, bus configurations, conduct and cable schedules, and general arrangement drawings
- Perform and oversee engineering calculations (grounding analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, fault current, and equipment ratings)
- Lead equipment selection, specification development, and vendor drawing reviews
- Prepare, review, and approve design packages and technical documentation
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams including engineering, design, and project management
- Perform and oversee quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of deliverables
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, ANSI)
- Interface directly with clients to support project development, resolve technical issues, and present engineering solutions
- Support proposal development, scope definition, and project planning efforts
- Conduct site visits, field inspections, and provide construction support as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 8+ years of experience in power delivery (transmission and distribution systems for utilities or industrial), renewable energy, or power generation
- Demonstrated experience leading substation design projects and mentoring junior staff
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and electrical analysis software (ETAP, CYME, SKM, PSCAD)
- Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI)
- Proven leadership, project management, and decision-making skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with client-facing experience
- Excellent computer skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook with advanced MS Office skills
- Experience with PVcase, PVCAD a plus
- Knowledge of renewable energy industry relating to utility scale wind and solar projects, such as MV power systems and AC/DC distribution system a plus
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems a plus
- Manufacturer experience of power transformer, circuit breaker, AIS/GIS switchgear, AC/DC inverter, etc.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
