Electrical Engineer III – Substation P&C

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the engineering and design of high-voltage substation Protection & Control systems for AIS and GIS substations
- Prepare and Review protection and control design drawings including single lines, three lines, DC schematics, communication schematics and wiring
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables
- Ensure work complies with applicable industry standards including IEEE, NERC, NEC, NESC, and client-specific requirements
- Support project planning and execution by contributing to schedules, deliverables, and technical coordination
- Develop relay settings and protection philosophy
- Provide detailed QA/QC for P&C design packages
- Provide training to junior P&C engineer and designers
- Attending FAT, inspections, and provide site support as needed
- Assist with utility coordination and interconnection processes for renewable energy projects including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related field required
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) license preferred or ability to obtain
- 5+ years of experience in power system engineering, substation protection and controls, transmission planning, or renewable energy integration
- Experience with high-voltage substation P&C design including relays, batteries, chargers, SCADA interfaces, and control panels
- Familiarity with power system analysis software such as PSSE, ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, or similar tools
- Experience performing power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis
- Working knowledge of industry standards including IEEE, NERC, NEC, and NESC
- Experience supporting utility coordination and interconnection processes for energy projects preferred
- Experience with networking devices and communication configuration
- Experience with ASPEN
- Experience with relay settings
- Ability to manage technical deliverables while supporting project schedules and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and technical documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
