About the role
- Lead the development of scalable, robust analytical models using DBT.
- Ensure the implementation of modeling standards (dimensional/relational) and best practices.
- Create, test, and document transformations to maintain data quality, reliability, and traceability.
- Develop and maintain complex data pipelines using Airflow, applying versioning, modularity, and observability.
- Integrate different data sources and ensure efficient, resilient, and monitorable processes.
- Optimize queries, schemas, and costs for data projects in BigQuery, applying advanced performance-tuning practices.
- Ensure governance, security, partitioning/clustering, and versioning of datasets.
- Work closely with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to enable the consumption of reliable, well-documented datasets.
- Evangelize technical standards, best transformation practices, and governance across the organization.
- Build and support dashboards and analytical products using the Looker Platform, connecting optimized and semantically structured datasets.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Business, and Data Governance teams to ensure data integration, consistency, and quality.
- Participate in defining modern data architecture, proposing improvements and innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Strong experience as an Analytics Engineer, BI Engineer, Data Engineer, or equivalent analytical role.
- Proven track record working with end-to-end analytical pipelines.
- Proficiency in SQL for manipulation, modeling, and query optimization on large-scale datasets.
- Experience with dimensional and relational modeling.
- Professional experience with the DBT ecosystem in production.
- Development of models, macros, tests, documentation, and lineage.
- Implementation of patterns such as modularity, DRY, staging/curated layers, and versioning.
- Experience with Airflow, including building and maintaining complex DAGs, orchestration of jobs and data pipelines, and applying best practices for observability, retries, CI/CD, and modularity.
- Advanced expertise in BigQuery, including partitioning and clustering, cost and performance strategies, query analysis and tuning, dataset governance, and project architecture design.
- Proficiency with the Looker Platform, developing dashboards, semantic layer, and analytical models; knowledge of LookML is a plus.
- Familiarity with complementary GCP services such as Google Cloud Storage, IAM, and Cloud Logging/Monitoring.
- Knowledge of DBT Cloud and its advanced features.
- Experience with DataOps/MLOps, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Experience with modern architectures (Data Lakehouse, Data Mesh, or Data Vault).
- Knowledge of Python for task automation, building custom pipelines, and/or exploratory analysis.
- Familiarity with product metrics (AARRR), marketing metrics (LTV, CAC), or financial metrics.
- Strong documentation culture, tagging, and promotion of data governance.
- Ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders, gather business requirements, and translate them into data solutions.
- Ability to go beyond the "what" (data) and address the "why" (root-cause analysis), proposing solutions based on insights.
