About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory conditions including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis, and emphysema
  • Work with physicians, nurses, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Conduct spirometry and comprehensive pulmonary function tests
  • Provide patient instructions for pulmonary function test preparation and execution
  • Educate patients on respiratory equipment, inhalers, nebulizers, and medications such as albuterol
  • Administer albuterol after pulmonary function examinations
  • Perform pre- and post-pulmonary function testing and other diagnostic evaluations
  • Monitor patient progress, equipment functionality, and patient comfort; adjust therapies as necessary
  • Communicate with pulmonologists and team members when necessary
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow respiratory therapy safety protocols

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • NBRC and/or CPFT certification preferred
  • AARC Office Spirometry Certificate accepted
  • Experience performing spirometry testing
  • Knowledge of respiratory equipment and medications
  • Availability on occasional weekdays; no weekends
  • Strong patient care and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
