About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform field assembly of large power transformers ranging from approximately 15 MVA to 200 MVA
  • Support installation and assembly of transformer components and accessories
  • Install and work with transformer radiators and associated components
  • Support transformer oil handling and circulation activities
  • Assist with transformer component installation, connections, and field preparation
  • Apply working knowledge of electrical theory during transformer assembly and service activities
  • Support electrical and transformer testing activities as required by the project
  • Identify and communicate potential transformer assembly, component, or operational issues to project supervision
  • Follow established project procedures, safety requirements, and customer specifications
  • Work closely with client field leadership and other technicians to complete projects safely and on schedule
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with field and safety expectations
  • Support mobilization, demobilization, and travel between project sites as required
  • Travel by air and/or ground transportation to project locations
  • Remain on site for assignments and move between projects as opportunities become available

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Hands-on experience with power transformer assembly, installation, maintenance, or field service
  • Experience with large power transformer assembly
  • Experience with transformers in the 15 MVA–200 MVA range or comparable equipment
  • Experience with transformer radiators and component installation
  • Experience with transformer oil systems and oil circulation
  • Experience with electrical testing associated with transformer installation or service
  • Fundamental electrical theory and electrical-system concepts
  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures, drawings, manufacturer instructions, and project requirements
  • Ability to work safely around high-value electrical equipment in utility, industrial, or power-infrastructure environments
  • Willingness and ability to travel 100%
  • Ability to work approximately 10-hour days when required
  • Ability to work overnight shifts when required
  • Ability to remain on site for the duration of an assignment
  • Ability to move between projects as opportunities become available
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Previous field experience assembling large power transformers preferred
  • Experience traveling between transformer, utility, substation, or power-infrastructure projects preferred
  • Ability to perform work with limited day-to-day handholding preferred
  • Broader transformer testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, or commissioning experience is a plus
