About the role
- Lead the company’s technical accounting function ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and providing guidance on complex, high-impact accounting matters
- Serve as the accounting lead on complex and emerging business initiatives and document conclusions in high-quality technical memos
- Monitor, interpret, and apply new accounting guidance from the FASB, SEC, and other regulatory bodies and lead implementations
- Support M&A transactions including accounting due diligence, purchase price allocation, integration of acquired entities, and SEC filing preparation
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors on complex transactions and technical matters
- Develop, document, and maintain company-wide accounting policies and draft new policies as needed
- Lead or support cross-functional strategic initiatives, product launches, new revenue models, and reorganizations ensuring accounting impacts are addressed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with an active CPA (or equivalent)
- 10+ years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or technical accounting
- Strong exposure to SEC reporting and complex accounting matters
- Strong preference for experience in broker-dealer, fintech, or high-growth tech environments
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and ability to interpret and apply evolving standards and regulatory guidance
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders
- Experience supporting M&A transactions including accounting due diligence and purchase price allocation (PPA)
- Ability to serve as primary liaison with external auditors on complex technical matters
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a bias for action
