About the role
- Support, inspect, and ensure secure, reliable operation of Facility-Related Control Systems (FRCS) and OT infrastructure
- Oversee configuration, performance, and security posture of PLCs, HMIs, industrial servers, and control networks
- Inspect and verify system baselines, perform configuration and patch validation, assess system availability and uptime
- Identify and investigate abnormal system behavior, control loop issues, or unauthorized modifications
- Maintain detailed documentation of findings, deviations, and recommended corrective actions
- Collaborate regularly with cybersecurity assessment teams, system owners, integrators, and program managers
- Contribute to technical reports and client deliverables documenting system integrity, performance, and cybersecurity vulnerabilities
- Assist in development and validation of test plans, inspect installed systems against design drawings and functional specifications
- Ensure integration of cybersecurity controls within engineering constraints
- Design, program, troubleshoot SCADA systems and PLCs for potable water, wastewater, and stormwater systems
- Participate in MILCON process from basis of design and submittal review to startup and commissioning
- Assist in configuration control boards, develop OT-centric backout plans, schedule downtime, and perform maintenance for upgrades and hardening
- Conduct field verification, as-built reviews, and acceptance testing of SCADA and telemetry systems
- Install, configure, and program control system hardware and software; perform preventive maintenance and continuous monitoring
- Respond to and correct system alarms and emergencies; analyze system data to identify deficiencies and vulnerabilities
- Provide remediation recommendations and support legacy system upgrades and energy efficiency improvements
- Travel to supported installations to provide FRCS expertise
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering related field OR at least 2 years of experience in operational technology engineering or cyber
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in SCADA systems and PLC programming
- Working knowledge of leading platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Schneider, GE, or VTScada)
- Familiarity with water/wastewater operations, hydraulic systems, chemical dosing, and remote monitoring technologies
- Experience with MILCON or federal design-build projects and related contracting requirements
- Understanding of environmental permitting, reporting, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Clean Water Act, NPDES)
- Experience designing, programming, troubleshooting SCADA/PLC for potable water, wastewater, and stormwater systems
- Experience with configuration control boards, backout plans, downtime scheduling, and cybersecurity hardening
- Experience maintaining hardware and software inventories for PLC and OT equipment
- Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint
- Strong writing, communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Maintenance and verification of software and hardware inventories for PLC and OT equipment
- NICET, ISA/IEC 62443, or equivalent systems engineering certifications required
- Desired: SCADA/PLC vendor certifications (Keyence, Fuji Electric, Hitachi), DDC HVAC Certifications (Johnson Controls, Automated Logic)
- Desired: OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, or water operator licenses a plus
- Any familiarity with Japanese Language a bonus
- Must obtain a DoD Secret Clearance (applicants subject to government security investigation)
- Possession of a current passport with a minimum of 8 months until expiration
- Willingness and capability to travel CONUS and OCONUS approx. 20% of the time
- Commitment to a drug-free work environment, U.S. Citizenship, and valid state driver's license
