About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee and facilitate coordination and enhancement of conflict of interest and research integrity programs
- Assist in developing and implementing departmental initiatives and provide administrative and program support
- Work with the Regulatory Services Manager to develop and implement short- and long-term research integrity and compliance initiatives
- Serve as backup for the Regulatory Services Manager as needed
- Ensure the research conflict of interest program meets the seven elements of an effective compliance program
- Develop, implement, and manage policies and procedures for research compliance oversight
- Lead continuous improvement of departmental operations, compliance processes, educational campaigns, electronic systems, and reporting
- Analyze and investigate research activities for compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures
- Work with stakeholders to develop remediation actions
- Serve as technical advisor to Office of Research Integrity staff on complex regulatory and procedural issues
- Coordinate and assist with inquiries and audits involving complex and sensitive research integrity and compliance matters
- Develop and coordinate reports for oversight agencies and sponsors
- Advise the campus community on relevant and emerging regulations, their interpretation, and application
- Delegate and supervise tasks completed by staff, committees, and teams
- Coordinate university alignment with accreditation requirements, quality assurance activities, and best practices
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
- 3+ years of related experience in research compliance activities
- Additional related research ethics and compliance experience within higher education may substitute for the education requirement on an equivalent year-for-year basis
- Additional related education may substitute for the experience requirement on an equivalent year-for-year basis
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements for university research, including research integrity, conflicts of interest, research security, intellectual property protection, and research commercialization
- Advanced knowledge of university research administration, including sponsored programs and related reporting requirements
- Significant working knowledge of research administration procedures and terminology
- Knowledge of programmatic solutions meeting federal and industry agreement requirements
- Ability to lead committees and teams
- Ability to manage and analyze digital business data, track key performance indicators, and prepare administrative reports
- Outstanding customer service approach supporting multiple stakeholders and achieving successful resolutions
- Ability to communicate complex and highly technical issues clearly and persuasively to all institutional levels
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of sensitive matters
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and groups

- 2 years of experience managing staff or teams preferred
- Certification in research compliance preferred
