About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design and execution of Recursive's hiring strategy in alignment with business growth objectives.
  • Partner with the Director of Corporate Development and leadership team to forecast hiring needs and build a rolling resourcing plan.
  • Define and continuously refine sourcing strategies, channel mix, and employer branding initiatives to attract high-calibre talent.
  • Develop and maintain a talent pipeline for critical and recurring roles across technical, commercial, and corporate functions.
  • Advise on market trends, compensation benchmarks, and competitive intelligence to keep Recursive's hiring approach sharp.
  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle for all open roles — from job brief through to offer acceptance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for hiring managers, ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience at every stage.
  • Coordinate interview processes, scorecards, and feedback loops across all stakeholders with precision and speed.
  • Manage relationships with external recruitment partners, agencies, and job platforms where applicable.
  • Ensure all candidate communications, documentation, and processes are handled professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an up-to-date view of headcount needs, open roles, and hiring progress across the organisation.
  • Work with team leads and hiring managers to translate business plans into clearly defined role requirements and timelines.
  • Identify resourcing risks early and propose solutions to keep hiring on track.
  • Support visa and work permit processes for international hires in collaboration with relevant internal and external parties.
  • Track, analyse, and report on key recruitment metrics including time-to-hire, pipeline health, source effectiveness, and offer acceptance rates.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and approaches to improve the efficiency and quality of talent acquisition.
  • Build and document scalable hiring processes that can grow with the company.
  • Drive structured onboarding coordination to ensure new hires are set up for success from day one.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with all hiring managers — acting as a strategic partner, not just a coordinator.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Corporate Development, Finance, and team leads on headcount planning and approval workflows.
  • Represent Recursive's culture, values, and employer brand authentically throughout every candidate interaction.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of end-to-end talent acquisition experience, ideally in a high-growth technology or consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience owning hiring strategy, not just executing processes.
  • Strong track record of partnering with senior stakeholders and hiring managers across multiple functions.
  • Experience managing diverse role types — from technical AI/engineering roles to commercial and corporate positions.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills; able to run multiple pipelines simultaneously.
  • Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese.
  • Experience hiring in Japan, including knowledge of work visa and permit processes for foreign nationals (Nice-to-Have).
  • Background in or strong interest in AI, tech, or consulting industries (Nice-to-Have).
  • Experience working in multinational or multicultural organisations (Nice-to-Have).
  • Familiarity with modern ATS platforms, sourcing tools, and recruitment analytics (Nice-to-Have).
