About the role

  • Oversee the accurate preparation of monthly management accounts and related narrative and supporting schedules.
  • Oversee the planning for and accurate preparation of the quarter end financial projections.
  • Oversee and approve monthly payroll.
  • Implement and embed a cash management process for new deposit notice account.
  • Support the outgoing Chief Finance & Operations Officer in managing the close-out of the year-end audit and 2025 Annual Report & Financial Statements including preparation for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and Board meetings (May/June).
  • Support the CEO and the Financial Controller in the AGM process (July).
  • Oversee the Annual Report to Charity Regulator (August).
  • Preparing for the 2027 budget cycle by providing hands-on support for the preparation of the budget timetable, budget templates and organisational payroll and headcount budget (August/Sept).
  • Oversee the preparation of the 2026 Gender pay gap report based on 30 June info (August/Sept).
  • Prepare agenda and related papers for the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee meeting in September, liaising closely with the Chair of the committee and the CEO.
  • Oversee the accurate submission of the CRO B1 annual return (Sept).
  • Review, manage and collate the financial reporting information for all partners of the New Solutions project for the 6 months April to Sept 2026 (in preparation for submission to Pobal in October).
  • Handover to incoming Finance & Human Resources Director (September).
  • Provide guidance and support to the CEO and Leadership Team in managing the implementation of the strategic plan (May to Sept).
  • Overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of Rethink Ireland to ensure the organisation remains financially resilient and is capable of delivering on its strategic objectives.
  • Team Leadership – lead and manage the finance team and human resources teams.
  • Manage the finance team to: Ensure the provision of timely, clear and accurate monthly management information, on a fund-by-fund basis, to drive effective decision making. Deliver all aspects of the financial reporting, financial control, working capital management, budgeting and forecasting functions, monthly bank reconciliations, payments and banking requirements. Ensure that payment processes are organised efficiently and that all payments are made in a timely manner. Perform financial modelling for future cash flow needs for the business operations.
  • Manage the Human Resources function to: Oversee and ensure the smooth and effective delivery of the Human Resources function and activities. Ensure the provision of timely, clear and accurate monthly management information, to drive effective decision making, including provision of information for payroll purposes. Support the development of HR strategies, systems, policies and procedures across the organisation. Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management. Oversee all of the organisation’s contracts, including with employees, donors, awardees as well as external suppliers and consultants. Ensure an accurate register of organisation risk is maintained and reviewed and work with key leaders to mitigate these risks. Data Protection – ensure the organisation complies with all aspects of GDPR and provide support to the Data Protection Co-Ordinator to fulfill this requirement. Oversee organisational compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and sector standards, including charity, financial and data protection. Ensure that all of the organisation’s financial practices are in line with statutory and fiscal regulations. Act as a key advisor to the Board and Leadership Team on governance, risk management, and regulatory matters. Like all staff, you will act as an ambassador for Rethink Ireland at all times.

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant with membership of a recognised accountancy body, with at least 10 years of financial management experience, ideally at senior level.
  • Commercially minded with strong analytical skills, experienced in the provision of quality management information and business planning.
  • Good organisational and collaborative leadership skills, combined with communication and people management skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft suite of products, Salesforce, AIQ, and Asana.
  • Commitment to results; 'can-do’ mindset.
  • You are committed to excellence and have strong attention to detail.
  • You are able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • You demonstrate the highest levels of integrity.
