About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform hemodialysis treatment procedures and deliver safe, efficient, high-quality care
  • Provide specialized registered nursing care in accordance with state law
  • Complete the company clinical training program for inexperienced Dialysis RNs
  • Assess patients and document responses to renal failure and treatments
  • Recognize patient changes, adjust therapy, respond to emergencies, and notify the nephrologist when necessary
  • Set, review, and communicate patient-care priorities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans using a team approach
  • Assume primary nurse responsibilities as directed
  • Communicate significant information among the head nurse, staff, patients, and healthcare team
  • Complete and verify treatment documentation and orders
  • Set up and operate the dialysis unit, including reuse, water checks, cleaning, bath mixing, and opening/closing duties
  • Administer medications as ordered and educate patients about safe dosage and side effects
  • Obtain laboratory specimens, perform routine tests, and respond to abnormal findings
  • Delegate responsibilities and assume Charge Nurse functions when needed
  • Educate patients about their disease and treatment
  • Follow infection-control policies and participate in CPR as needed
  • Participate in quality assurance, QAPI, IDT committees, performance-improvement projects, and continuing education
  • Report errors, near misses, complaints, grievances, and improvement opportunities
  • Assist with staff orientation and in-service education
  • Maintain patient, employee, and company confidentiality
  • Prepare dialysis logs, laboratory reports, supplies, and shift setups
  • Maintain a clean environment, check company email weekly, and maintain regular attendance
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent
  • Current RN License for Tennessee
  • Current CPR certification or certification obtained within three months of hire
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate satisfactorily in English
  • Strong technical and computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and similar tools
  • Ability to perform required physical duties, including continual standing and frequent bending, walking, twisting, crouching, reaching, and handling
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work the full schedule, ranging from five to fifteen hours per day based on unit requirements
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
  • Comprehensive background check required after an offer for employees working in this position
  • Ability to work in a hospital or post-acute/correctional medical unit with possible exposure to chemicals and blood-borne pathogens
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, confidentiality, infection-control practices, and scope of practice
