About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Administration, operation and further development of our Sophos XGS firewall infrastructure across multiple sites
Design, implementation and maintenance of firewall rule sets, NAT, web filtering and application control policies
Operation and expansion of site-to-site and remote-access VPNs (IPsec, SSL-VPN/ZTNA)
Configuration and optimization of IPS, TLS inspection, sandboxing (zero-day protection) and Synchronized Security
Monitoring, log analysis and reporting (Sophos Central, syslog/SIEM integration)
Analysis and resolution of network and security incidents, and participation in security incident response
Patch and lifecycle management of firewall systems, including high-availability (HA) operation
Creation and maintenance of network and firewall documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Completed IT vocational training, degree or comparable practical experience
Several years of experience in firewall administration, ideally with Sophos XGS/SFOS
Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, DNS, VPN technologies)
Experience with Sophos Central and, preferably, Synchronized Security / Intercept X
Knowledge of IT security standards and network segmentation concepts is an advantage
Sophos certifications (e.g., Sophos Certified Engineer/Architect) desirable
A careful, security-conscious working style and high reliability
Very good German skills (at least C1) and good English skills, both spoken and written
