About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot plant PLCs and control systems for power generation and integrate them with the ROC SCADA system
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot plant and Remote Operations Center IT and OT systems, including HMIs, networking, telecommunications, CCTV systems, operator computers, and software
  • Perform routine system checks and maintenance to prevent unforeseen failures
  • Respond to failures and system malfunctions; promptly diagnose and resolve issues to minimize downtime
  • Plan and execute PLC, IHM, and station gateway program modifications in coordination with the Operations team
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, software updates, and hardware maintenance, including procurement and coordination with Operations
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to SCADA performance, incidents, upgrades, and maintenance
  • Follow and enforce company safety standards and HSSE policies
  • Collaborate with compliance, projects, and operations teams
  • Provide training and support to staff regarding control system operations
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships
  • Ensure control systems adhere to relevant standards and regulations
  • Foster teamwork, provide guidance, and facilitate skill development
  • Manage the budget for IT and OT processes, including procurement, maintenance, and personnel expenses
  • Provide status updates and reports to senior management
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the manager
  • Travel up to 4 days per week

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree, military, or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in PLCs and control systems installation and maintenance
  • Proven hands-on experience in PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems configuration, preferably in hydropower or energy
  • Proven hands-on experience installing and configuring hardware, software, security systems, network equipment, and related systems
  • Proficiency in running and terminating data and electrical cabling
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to safe work practices
  • Experience with electrical systems on 110–13,800 VAC and 12–130 VDC
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and communications schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must be based in New England or NY
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Desirable: hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA and GE, Emerson, Allen-Bradley, and AutomationDirect PLCs
  • Desirable: cybersecurity best practices and protocols, such as NERC CIP
  • Desirable: familiarity with industry standards and regulations
  • Desirable: project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Desirable: experience providing user training and software support
