About the role
- Designs and delivers robust, scalable data products that power analytics, machine learning, and business applications.
- Builds and maintains data pipelines and lakehouse architectures to enable efficient ingestion, streaming, transformation, and storage of diverse data sources.
- Implements best practices for data modeling, cataloging, and governance to ensure quality, security, and compliance.
- Leverages cloud-native platforms, distributed systems, and modern frameworks to create reusable, high-performance data assets.
- Collaborates with product teams and stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions, driving innovation through automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Creates and supports the process to pull the information from source systems and place it into the data lake
- Performs big data design and testing, including data design, big data architecture, catalog, and repository creation
- Designs, develops, and maintains the big data technologies and architectures
- Works with business and IT stakeholders to optimize information by defining business requirements and populating the data lake
- Creates big data schematics and layouts; assists with developing capacity planning
- Recommends improvements and applies standards, processes, and procedures for big data systems
- Seeks continuous big data performance improvement and ensures security of information
- Creates and implements effective metrics and monitoring processes
- May lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements
- Acts as a resource and impacts the quality of work for colleagues with less experience
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent education/experience required
- Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) preferred
- 4+ Years of big data or relevant experience
- 4+ Years of experience with cataloging, modeling, ingestion, processing, and streaming technologies and processes.
- Continuous Integration Tools (eg, CruiseControl, Continuum, Travis)
- 1+ Years of Data Analysis experience
- Data Modeling experience
- Experience with dbt
- Experience with Snowflake
- Experience with HTTP, SSL/TLS, REST, SQL, JSON, and Excel
- Experience with MySQL, Oracle, SOLR, NoSQL, Postgres, Mongo DB and Hive
- Test Driven Development processes and tooling (eg, JUnit, Mocha, Jasmine, Protractor)
- DevOps-style deployment tools (eg, Docker, Ansible, Vagrant)
- Experience with business intelligence and/or data warehouse technologies and processes
- Advanced ability to solve complex problems, drawing upon creativity, experience, and multiple sources of information
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or difficult information in straightforward manner.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus
