About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design substation protection schemes and specify relays for use in redundant protection systems.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Perform protective relay coordination studies and program substation relays.
- Conduct short-circuits analysis and develop relay settings for electromechanical and microprocessor relays.
- Provide technical guidance to contractors, clients, and other engineers.
- Assist with commissioning of new equipment and troubleshoot existing facilities.
- Analyze fault events and prepare sequence-of-events reports.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of electric utility or power engineering experience performing engineering calculations and design work.
