About the role
- Independently designing and modifying power system protection and automation schemes
- Preparing engineering documentation and supporting commissioning activities
- Designing substation protection schemes and specifying relays for use in redundant protection systems
- Preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Performing protective relay coordination studies and programming substation relays
- Conducting short-circuit analysis and developing relay settings for electromechanical and microprocessor relays
- Providing technical guidance to contractors, clients, and other engineers
- Assisting with commissioning of new equipment and troubleshooting existing facilities
- Analyzing fault events and preparing sequence-of-events reports
- Ensuring all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of electric utility or power engineering experience performing engineering calculations and design work
- Proficiency in CAD and electrical modeling software
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
