About the role
- Design and analyze overhead and underground transmission lines (typically 69kV–345kV+)
- Perform line routing, structure spotting, and loading calculations
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, equipment specifications, technical bid summaries, and technical reports
- Conduct electrical, structural, and thermal analyses using industry software tools
- Coordinate with substation, distribution, protection, and construction teams
- Support permitting, environmental, and right-of-way considerations
- Provide construction support, including responding to RFIs and field issues
- Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, NERC, and utility standards
- Assist with cost estimates, schedules, and project documentation
- Participate in internal design reviews and quality assurance processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain
- 2–7+ years of transmission line engineering experience (level dependent)
- Working knowledge of transmission design standards and codes
- Proficiency with industry software (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, GIS tools)
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
