About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review of current operations and exemptions
- Review of current sales tax collection/exemption certificate collection
- Negotiation with state tax authorities to limit assessments
- Penalty waiver applications
- Acquisition target vetting
- Monitoring and navigating legislative changes
- Managing the preparation of a broad range of individual, corporate and other entity tax returns
- Conducting tax research to develop solutions for our clients’ complex and/or unique situations
- Providing direction and new challenges to associates
- Mentoring associates as they navigate their career paths
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or industry
- CPA license required; MST a plus
- Expert knowledge individual, partnership and corporate state and local income tax laws and principles
- Working knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws and principles
- Prior experience coaching and training entry level accounting professionals
- Passion for coaching others to higher levels of performance
- Commitment to continuous learning and development
- Out-of-the box thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit
- Unwavering integrity in all situations
