About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, billing, and payroll
- Maintain the general ledger, depreciation schedules, reconciliations, workpapers, and journal entries as needed
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage the month‑end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Prepare account analyses and reconciliations
- Develop and enhance dashboards and performance metrics to support business decision‑making
- Partner with senior financial leadership to prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, margins, purchasing costs, and variances
- Support long‑range financial planning and scenario analysis
- Oversee daily cash flow and support banking and treasury activities
- Provide backup support for transactional accounting functions as needed
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial data
- Coordinate with external accountants on annual reviews, compilations, or audits
- Support enterprise risk management and related administrative processes
- Partner closely with executive leadership and operations to support strategic initiatives
- Standardize accounting practices and implement system and process improvements
- Serve as a financial advisor to cross‑functional teams, including operations and sales
- Foster a collaborative, high‑performance accounting team environment focused on accountability, communication, and professionalism
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Experience in distribution, logistics, supply‑based, or other complex, high‑volume operating environments strongly preferred
- Prior experience in a middle‑market or family‑owned organization is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required
- Current CPA, CMA, or successful completion of MBA preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual‑basis accounting
- Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks or comparable ERP platforms)
- Strong Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities
