Finance Specialist
Regis HR GroupClient Finance Specialist serves as a trusted financial partner for clients. Managing transactions, analyzing reports, and providing insights for nonprofit organizations in Raleigh-Durham area.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable — processing invoices, expense reports, and payments accurately and on time
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts monthly; monitor and report client expenditures and expense allocations
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee the monthly close process, maintain the general ledger in QuickBooks Online, and manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules
- Support annual audits and tax filings with organized schedules, confirmation letters, and documentation
- Proactively identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities and translate them into plain-language insights for client boards and leadership
- Collaborate with Account Executives on client budget planning, forecasting, and long-term sustainability conversations
- Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and client confidence in company's financial stewardship
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's degree in accounting or finance (bachelor's preferred) OR 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit or multi-client environment
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Online
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial audiences
- Comfort presenting financial information to client leadership, boards, and volunteers
- Experience with or willingness to learn financial forecasting and budgeting, not just historical reporting
- A proactive mindset where you flag issues and suggest solutions before being asked
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively across teams
