About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform analysis and reconciliation of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Review and analyze USSGL postings and account balances
  • Prepare and process journal vouchers and accrual accounting entries
  • Perform account reconciliations, investigate abnormal balances, and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform intragovernmental transaction reconciliations and research discrepancies
  • Support preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Respond to audit requests by researching transactions and preparing supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with DFAS and DoW stakeholders to resolve accounting issues
  • Support recurring and ad hoc accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting activities
  • Assist in evaluating, documenting, and improving internal controls over financial reporting
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and desk procedures
  • Perform financial reconciliations and quality control reviews
  • Analyze accounting transactions and recommend corrective actions
  • Learn new financial systems, policies, and accounting requirements quickly
  • Support other accounting and financial management tasks, including developing and uploading financial reports
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial close activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 2–5 years of accounting or federal financial management experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, and General Ledger concepts
  • Experience performing account reconciliations, financial analysis, and researching accounting discrepancies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, and data analysis
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative remote environment
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
  • Experience supporting a Federal financial management organization
  • Familiarity with DFAS processes
  • Understanding of internal controls and audit support
  • Experience with DAI, Oracle ERP, or comparable federal financial management systems
  • Experience documenting business processes or SOPs
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 (or higher) background investigation and Common Access Card (CAC), as required by the Government
