About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for clients of all ages (children, adolescents, adults) as scheduled
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that align with the client’s goals, clinical needs, and best practices
  • Provide medication management services, including prescribing, titrating, and monitoring psychotropic medications for effectiveness, side effects, and adherence
  • Conduct ongoing psychiatric follow-up appointments to assess progress, adjust medications, and modify treatment plans as needed
  • Offer psychoeducation to clients and families about diagnoses, medications, potential side effects, and treatment options
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, psychiatric rehabilitation staff, case managers, and other members of the care team to ensure coordinated and holistic care
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) according to organizational policies and regulatory standards
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and case consultations when appropriate to support integrated care
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed, including safety planning and referrals to higher levels of care when appropriate
  • Stay current with evidence-based psychiatric practices, state regulations, and professional standards through ongoing education and training

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing with a psychiatric specialization (PMHNP-BC)
  • Active Maryland RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Active Maryland medical license
  • Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
  • Minimum 1 year of outpatient psychiatric experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly within a team environment
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and documentation skills
