About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for clients of all ages (children, adolescents, adults) as scheduled
Develop individualized treatment plans that align with the client’s goals, clinical needs, and best practices
Provide medication management services, including prescribing, titrating, and monitoring psychotropic medications for effectiveness, side effects, and adherence
Conduct ongoing psychiatric follow-up appointments to assess progress, adjust medications, and modify treatment plans as needed
Offer psychoeducation to clients and families about diagnoses, medications, potential side effects, and treatment options
Collaborate closely with therapists, psychiatric rehabilitation staff, case managers, and other members of the care team to ensure coordinated and holistic care
Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) according to organizational policies and regulatory standards
Participate in treatment team meetings and case consultations when appropriate to support integrated care
Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed, including safety planning and referrals to higher levels of care when appropriate
Stay current with evidence-based psychiatric practices, state regulations, and professional standards through ongoing education and training

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing with a psychiatric specialization (PMHNP-BC)
Active Maryland RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses
Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Active Maryland medical license
Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
Minimum 1 year of outpatient psychiatric experience preferred
Ability to work independently and flexibly within a team environment
Excellent communication, assessment, and documentation skills
