About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, write, and deliver software, mostly in Go and sometimes in Python, to improve product availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency
  • Dive deep into Go services and Reddit’s Python monolith legacy stack
  • Make system-level improvements, enhancements, and complex code modifications
  • Identify platform gaps and help evolve the platform for future growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Reddit and solicit customer feedback
  • Share on-call responsibilities and support monitoring and alerting
  • Improve Reddit’s reliability, scalability, latency, and efficiency
  • Continue improving technical abilities, acumen, and soft skills

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience in a production setting
  • BS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Golang, Python, C++, or Java
  • Experience with databases such as Cassandra, Postgres, or Redis
  • Experience with modern cloud-based infrastructure such as Kubernetes, gRPC, AWS, or GCP
  • Strong communication skills and desire to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Prior experience with scaled, high-rate platform services and API design is a plus
