About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Feed Relevance, aligning machine learning solutions with Reddit’s product and business objectives
Coach and support the development of the machine learning team
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, set expectations, and communicate the team’s work
Oversee the design, development, and optimization of relevance, discovery, and content distribution systems
Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams on next-generation AI-powered solutions
Maintain high standards for system performance, reliability, efficiency, and responsible AI
Partner with recruiting to attract, interview, and hire machine learning engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience building and managing high-performing machine learning teams
Hands-on experience with large-scale production machine learning systems
Experience with transformer-based architectures, sequence models, or Large Language Models (LLMs)
Strong understanding of recommender systems, including candidate retrieval, ranking, value modeling, ecosystem dynamics, and measurement strategies
Ability to develop and communicate technical strategy aligned with company objectives
Ability to build scalable, well-designed, and responsible AI solutions
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences
Ability to build relationships with cross-functional partners
