About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Solve large-scale streaming infrastructure and distributed messaging infrastructure problems
Partner with the team and major users such as ML, AI, and Search to build scalable technical solutions
Maintain high availability and reliability across Reddit’s product portfolio
Contribute to the team and organization’s long-term technical strategy
Refine and maintain messaging infrastructure supporting asynchronous communication for services serving hundreds of millions of users
Own managed and self-hosted infrastructure supporting produce and consume requests
Develop tooling and automation to operate infrastructure efficiently
Implement features, optimizations, and bug fixes for distributed messaging systems

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience building internet-scale software, preferably focused on machine learning storage infrastructure
Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages: Golang, Python, C++, or Java
Experience working with Kafka and Kubernetes
Strimzi experience is a plus
Hands-on experience implementing features, optimizations, and bug fixes for distributed messaging systems
Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field
Excellent communication skills for collaboration with engineering, data science, machine learning, and product stakeholders
