About the role

  • Investigate user behavior and needs using qualitative methods to design and conduct foundational and evaluative research to guide executive decision-making.
  • Support the Core Platform Pillar focusing on lifecycle research: acquiring new users, connecting them with content/communities, and deepening engagement.
  • Examine how users transition in their usage and behavior to identify UX improvement opportunities (personalization, localization, machine translation, engagement).
  • Craft and execute high-quality, high-impact qualitative research studies (e.g., semi-structured interviews, concept testing, behavioral analysis).
  • Drive communication and collaboration with cross-functional partners including engineering, data science, design, product/program management.
  • Clearly articulate product strategy across product pillars via a compelling narrative and actionable insights.
  • Leverage research to drive product strategy and improve the experience for new and future Reddit users.

Requirements

  • Masters or Ph.D. in Statistics, Behavioral Science, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience conducting consumer-focused, qualitative research on an embedded product team.
  • Demonstrated expertise in qualitative research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product development phase.
  • Experience with semi-structured interviews, concept testing, and behavioral analysis.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
  • Experience influencing strategy and driving impact within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Can prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible, adapting to changing priorities.
